Disclaimer


Our disclaimer document is intended for use in England and Wales in relation to the simplest kinds of website: information-only websites lacking any real interactive features (other than hyperlinks and html forms). The document is, in essence, a shorter version of the basic website terms of use document available on this website (it omits the terms relating specifically to interactive website features).

There is no magic to the document name: this "disclaimer" might as easily be called "terms and conditions" or "terms of use" or "website terms".

The disclaimer document includes the following provisions:

  • a licence of the copyright in the website (and restrictions on what may be done with the material on the website);
  • a disclaimer of liability (which gives the document its name);
  • a variation clause;
  • an entire agreement clause;
  • a clause specifying the applicable law and the jurisdiction in which disputes will be decided; and
  • a provision specifying some of the information which needs to be disclosed under the Ecommerce Regulations.

Please read the notes accompanying the disclaimer very carefully. You will of course need to adapt the disclaimer to suit your website and business.

Use the document without paying

If you would like to use the disclaimer without paying a licence fee, you are welcome to do so, but you must leave the Website-law.co.uk credit and link in the document.

Pay for a licence

If you would like to use the disclaimer without including the Website-law.co.uk link and credit you will need to pay a licence fee (currently £15.00 per website). Although we do not place any technological restrictions on the downloading of the documents, we do regularly scour the internet for copies of the documents that have been used contrary to the terms of our document licence.
